Volunteer Staff Information
If you have time this summer why not consider volunteering as a member of the camp staff. Not only will your son attend camp at a discounted rate you will have an experience of a lifetime. Each year over 100 parents volunteer their time and talent at our Cub Scout Day Camps and have a blast doing it. Quality time with your children and fun await you at our camps.
To ensure a successful Day Camp program for our Cub Scouts, volunteers are needed at camp to assist the Staff and guide the Cubs through each day’s activities. The volunteer staff is comprised of parents or older sibilings of Scouts that serve primarily in roles of Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders. If you have a special talent or skill that you would like to share you can assist in program areas as well. Our camp is unique from other camps as we depend on parental support in order to provide a quality family environment. Day Camp can not happen without your help.
Adults that would like to volunteer to be on staff and receive the discounted rate must attend one of three pre-camp trainings that are held at council, have a completed BSA Medical form, be registered or pay to register as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, complete Youth Protection training, and be able to volunteer a complete five days of the program.

Youth staff that volunteer will receive a letter from the Camp Director, upon request, describing the volunteer hours spent volunteering at camp. The discounted rate for a Cub Scout attending only applies to volunteers over the age of 18. Youth volunteers should also complete the Volunteer Staff Application, and must have a current medical form on file. Youth staff do not need to attend the pre-camp training as an orientation will take place at camp.

Volunteer Resources
Every volunteer likes to know what their responsibilities are. Most of our parent volunteers will be assigned to a den and will walk a group of Scouts around from station to station. Some might be assigned to a program area but most are assigned to dens. The position description is designed to give you a basic idea of the responsibilites.
2012 - Den Leader Position Description (PDF)
This is the most important resource that a Den Leader should have with them at all times during camp. This document should be reviewed prior to camp so that you know where the resources are in the packet so at camp you can make use of the materials. This packet contains skits, songs, jokes, cheers and theme related information to support the camp program. You can print this document if you want to, however we will have copies for you on the first day of camp.

The Master requirement lists break down all of the requirements for a rank. A den leader can do as many of the requirements as they would like during the camp session. Some dens will do more than others, it's up to the den leader. These sheets are collected at the end of each week, the dates the requirements were completed are listed for the Scouts in the den, and the sheets are posted on the day camp website for download in September following camp. Advancement is not the focus of Cub Scout Day Camp, fun is the focus and advancement happens!

Den Leader planner sheets contain program suggestions for each of the camp dens based on rank. There are a lot of activities taking place at camp during the summer. Den Leaders should use the the template as a guide and should be flexible in their plans.
