University of Scouting was a GREAT SUCCESS.

Powahay District - Scout Day at the Maritime Aquarium Posted Jan. 16, 2018
Saturday, March 24, 2018 - 10 AM - 5 PM

Registration for Scout Day at the Maritime Aquarium will open on January 16, 2018 through the Reservation Department at the Maritime Aquarium. Please call Aquarium: 203-852-0700 x2206. M-F, 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Come enjoy a day of Scout fun at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. Special programs are being offered just for Scouts along with all of the excitement The Maritime Aquarium offers. All of this and the largest IMAX® movie screen in Connecticut makes our Scout Day an event you do not want to miss!

Discounted entrance fees. Exciting IMAX Theater movies Activities for all levels of Cub Scouts. Boy Scout Merit Badges -- Oceanography, Fish and Wild Life Management and Environmental Science. Powahay District - Chess Merit Badge Workshop Posted Feb. 7, 2018
Chess Merit Badge Workshop -- Saturday, April 21, 2018
9 AM Check-in — 9:15 to 11:15 AM Class
At the Chess Club of Fairfield County, LLC, 710 West Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850
The fee is $30 payable to the Chess Club of Fairfield County. Scouts must bring payment to the workshop. The Chess Club will provide instructors and chess set for the workshop.
Scouts MUST have a basic understanding of Chess and how the pieces move. In order to complete the Chess Merit Badge Scouts need to compete in a chess tournament scheduled at the May 12 ConnJam. Powahay District - Pinewood Derby Championship & Scout Day Posted Mar. 9, 2018
Saturday, April 28 starting at 10 AM! It’s Scout Day at Stepping Stones Museum for Children featuring Powahay’s Pinewood Derby Championship and fun Mystery at the Museum event. You don’t have to race in the Pinewood Derby to attend! Cub Scouts families can enjoy all of the fun Stepping Stones offers – from exhibit-themed activities, arts and creative play to story times, sing-a-longs, active play and more — while the Pinewood Derby races are taking place. Discounted fees and special programs for participants.
Help solve a Mystery at the Museum! Cub Scouts can join in a fun; Mystery Themed Scavenger Hunt. Put on your free Detective Hat and follow the Scavenger Hunt to solve the mystery. You can earn your Cub Scout Detective Badge.
Bring a Buddy! Bring lots buddies so they can learn about the fun and adventure Cub Scouts offers.
The top District Pinewood Derby winners will compete in the ConnJam Council Campionship. Top winners at ConnJam will attend the Pinewood Derby World Championship Times Square NYC. Click MORE INFORMATION to sign up for the event.

Powahay District - Iron Chef Contest For Youth Posted Feb. 21, 2018
The Iron Chef Cook-off (Youth) Sunday, April 29, 2018 — 1 to 3 pm
Hosted by Troop 9 Stamford at the First United Methodist Church 42 Cross Rd., Stamford,06905.
$20 Entrance Fee per Team (cover food, patch and awards) Troops can send a team or enter patrols into the competition. Teams should be at least 3 boys and no more than 5. Each Team would need a two burner stove, cook kit, cooking utensils, cooler, a pop-up tent, spices & seasoning (needs to be checked in before starting), serving plates & eating utensils. District would provide the menu items. A protein (meat), starch, vegetable/fruit, and a mystery ingredient.  Teams will have one hour to prepare three identical plated dishes using the ingredients provided above. The winning Team would represent Powahay at ConnJam’s Iron Chef Cook-off. Extra points for presentation to the judges. Sing a song, tell a story, joke, etc. CLICK MORE INFORMATION to register.

Powahay District - The Great Chili Cook-off for Adults Posted Feb. 21, 2018
Sunday, April 29, 2018 — 1 to 3 pm Hosted by Troop 9 Stamford at the First United Methodist Church 42 Cross Rd., Stamford,06905. $25.00 Entrance Fee payable at the event.
Powahay’s HOTTEST event! While youth Scouts are participating in the Iron Chef Cook-off, adults can participate in their Chili Cook-off. Win bragging rights to the BEST Chili in Powahay. All proceeds for the adult Chili Cook-off will benefit camp improvement projects at Hoyt Scout Reservation.
Two divisions and ways to enter:
1. The Adult Tenderfoot — Cook it at home and bring to the event. It must be served hot to be judged.
2. The Macho Scouter — Provide all of cooking equipment and stove, your ingredients and cook along side your Scouts participating in the Iron Chef Contest. Same schedule as Iron Chef.
Any form of chili is permissible. The judging committee will select the winners based on taste, appearance and creativity. Good Chili combines the elements of texture, freshness, and aroma and of course taste. Extra points for a fun presentation to the judges.

New York Yankees Vs. the Cleveland Indians
Saturday, May 5, 2018

Join us for the 2nd Annual CT Yankee Council day at the Yankees. Tickets for the May 5th game vs. the Cleveland Indians will be in Section 205 and are $40/each. A portion of each ticket sale will benefit the Friends of Scouting.

Come with your pack, troop, crew, ship or post and camp for the weekend. Cook as a unit or purchase meals from our onsite food service. This is the biggest Scouting event in Connecticut - thousands of Scouts will be there! Don’t miss out - ConnJam only happens every 3 years!
