Activities - Scout Day at Lime Rock Posted Aug. 8, 2017
Kick off your program year with a Fall outing at beautiful Lime Rock Park. Camp Friday night with your family or your entire unit and then spend all day Saturday enjoying the race program provided by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America and the Lime Rock Driver's Club. Registration deadline for tickets to be mailed is September 15. After that, tickets will be available for pick up at the Milford Scout office through noon September 29. Register now to join in the fun!

Activities - Fright Night Posted Sep. 19, 2017
Show your Halloween spirit! Come to Deer Lake Scout Reservation on October 28 for the Fright Night festivities. Hayrides, haunted trail, pumpkin decorating, crafts, games, food, etc. Choose your intensity level: "Fright Light" from 4-6 p.m. or "Fright Night" from 6-8:30 p.m.

Activities - NRA Rifle & Shotgun Instructor Classes Posted Aug. 7, 2017
If you would like to support BSA shooting sports programs on the Council, District and/or Troop/Crew level, these NRA Instructor Courses are what is required by the BSA for range supervision. Over the course of three weekends in October, you may earn your Rifle and/or Shotgun Instruction Certification. All classes will be held at Camp Sequassen.

Honoring our Veterans
Powahay District invites Scouters that are Veterans to attend our Fall Camporee – Remembering World War II, on Saturday, October 21, 2017, 9:00 AM at Hoyt Scout Reservation. The opening ceremony includes a special recognition for our Veterans and presenting a Memorial Wreath honoring our fallen heroes. Veteran Service includes foreign or domestic, during a conflict or guarding the peace.

Meet our camporee guest honoree World War II Veteran Mort Walker – Beetle Bailey Comic Strip creator and cartoonist.

Activities - 5K Trail Run Posted Sep. 13, 2017
Get your running shoes out and join us on Sunday, October 15, 2017 for a run through the picturesque trails at Hoyt Scout Reservation! The first annual "5K Trail Run and Family Fun Run/Walk" begins at 8:15 am (check-in at 7am) and our Family Fun Run begins at 10:15 am. Medals awarded for the top male and female finishers in the 5K. Medals awarded for the top three finishers in the Family Fun Run. Additional prizes for the "Top Baby Backpacker", "The Largest Family", and "The Largest Scout Contingent". Activities - Quinnipiac Dancers Posted Aug. 28, 2017


The Quinnipiac Dancers, the Council’s Order of the Arrow Indian dancers, can help you with their interpretations of Indian culture through their songs, dance and outfits. We can tailor our performances to your group’s needs.

 Authentic Native American Dance Interpretations.
 Live Indian music.
 Audience participation.
 Handmade outfits depicting modern Indian pow wow dancers.
Feathers, bells and beads on flashy colorful outfits.
 All dancers are youth members of our Order of the Arrow Lodge, Owaneco 313.

We will take bookings starting September 1, 2017 on a first come first serve basis. Our dance season starts January 1, 2018. Call or email early as the openings fill quickly.
