Scouts CAN

Our secondary goals are to raise awareness of Scouting in the community, demonstrate the benefits of volunteering to our youth, and reinforce the concept that many hands working together CAN accomplish great things. Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller and his wife Linda. Since then >300K homes have been built by Habitat International and >1.5MM people have been housed. Habitat homes are built on donations of time, materials and money, then sold to “Partner Families” at cost. The Partner Families are chosen based on their level of need, willingness to become partners in the program, & ability to repay the loan. Partner Families must make a down payment, pay off the low-interest mortgage, & invest 100s of hours of “sweat equity” on their home and others.
