Ways You Can Help

Great organizations strive to establish partnerships with donors that allow each to reach common goals in a way that best meets their mutual requirements. The Connecticut Yankee Council provides a number of avenues for donors to express their support for our shared vision and values. However you choose to support the Council, rest assured that it will have a profound and lasting impact on the quality of youth programs for decades to come.

Capital Fund

The Council provides our Scouts with self-confi dence, an appreciation of the environment, team-building and other positive life skills through our three outdoor facilities: Deer Lake Scout Reservation, Camp Sequassen and John Sherman Hoyt Scout Camp. However, our needs have outgrown current facilities. With your help, the Connecticut Yankee Council will renovate existing structures, and construct new program venues and common areas required to house and offer programs to more than 25,000 youth each year.

Capital Campaign Family Division

Your gift to the Scout Family division of the capital campaign will insure continued and improved program and facilities for our Scouts and the ones who will follow. Improvements at Deer Lake Scout Reservation and the relief it provides Camp Sequassen will afford every Scout more and better outdoor opportunities. Changes will expand summer camp programs and allow for additional use throughout the balance of the year

Levels of Giving

Up to $150 - all gifts will be recognized on a plaque containing the names of every donor that provided support to the campaign. (click here to complete a pledge card)

$150 - Gifts of $150 or more will be recognized with an engraved brick (4"x8") at the Scout Recognition Plaza at Deer Lake Scout Reservation.  This is a great way for a Scout or former Scout to be forever linked to the Council.  Donors may also consider honoring someone by naming a brick in their honor (a son or daughter in the program, a unit leader, parent, or friend).  (click here to complete a pledge card)

$500 - Gifts of $500 or more will also be recognized with an engraved paver (8"x8") at the Scout Recognition Plaza at Deer Lake Scout Reservation.  Donors provide the inscription for the recognition paver. (click here to complete a pledge card)

$1,500 - Become a Keeper of the Flame and endow an acre of camp.  Funds donated here will be invested with the interest each year used to fund maintenance and repair at council properties.  Each donor in this program will be invited to sign a camp map showing "their" acre of camp.  This is a great way to ensure all camps remain in great shape and for people closely tied to camp to be permanently remembered.  The maps will be framed and displayed at the dining hall of each camp. (click here to complete a pledge card)

$2,500 - constructs one lean-to at a unit camp site.  Each lean-to will sleep 6-8.  Forty will be placed at the new unit campsites at Deer Lake Scout Reservation.  Donors will be recognized with a plaque at the lean-to thanking them for their gift.

Eagle Scout Opportunity

$250 - A special Eagle Scout Plaza is being created at Camp Sequassen.  This plaza is open to all Eagle Scouts.  The engraved bricks (4"x8") will include the name of the Eagle Scout to be recognized and the year it was earned.  Donors may order bricks for themselves or to honor an Eagle Scout. Annual Fund

Gifts to Friends of Scouting allow the Council to meet its fi nancial obligations in a current budget year. This support provides funding in all program areas. Funding ensures quality training that, in turn, provides outstanding programs to each Scout in every unit.`

Council Endowment Fund

The Council affords its friends the opportunity to make a lasting legacy through a gift to the endowment fund. Interest from this fund ensures a renewable stream of income to provide basic maintenance and repairs at the camps, provide camperships to deserving Scouts, and allow for new program development to meet emerging community needs.

Types of Gifts

The Connecticut Yankee Council can accept support in a number of ways. Cash, transfer of stocks and securities, donation of insurance policies, gifts in-kind, remainder and lead trusts, bequests, and real estate are all options open to donors.
