Come and celebrate the achievements of Pomperaug Scouts and  Scouters!   We will celebrate the hard work of the Volunteers by recognizing their achievements.  Awards to be given out include: Spark Plug Award, Veteran Award, Den Leader Award, Scouters   Training Award, Scouters Key, Commissioner Awards, Unit Leader Award of Merit, Key Three Award. & more  Our awards will culminate by giving the District Award of Merit, the highest award the District can award.

We are preparing for our annual Pomperaug District Recognition Ceremony where we will be celebrating the great work of our volunteers over the last year.  The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13, 2022, 7-9 PM, at the Original Vazzy’s, 513 Broadbridge Rd, Bridgeport, CT. We need all of your help to make sure that all of the volunteers who have worked so hard, get properly recognized.  We have several awards planned to be presented listed below, and would like you to encourage fellow volunteers to either fill out the application form or have someone in your unit nominate them for these awards.  If you have any questions about applying for any of these please let me know.  Completed award applications can be sent to Pomperaug District Chair Gabe Zayas at fddesign@optonline.net  by Monday, June 5, 2023.

 

Spark Plug Award: Award given to one member of a unit who has been the spark that has driven your unit forward over the last year. The award application can be found at  https://www.ctyankee.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Spark-Plug-Nomination.pdf

 

Den Leader Training Award: This award is available to Tiger Den Leaders, Cub Scout Den Leaders, and Webelos Den Leaders who have completed at least one year of service and completed some additional requirements.  The award application can be found at https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/training/pdf/511-052_WB.pdf .

 

Scouters Training Award: These awards are available to all Boy Scout leaders, Cub Scout leaders, commissioners, district committee members, Sea Scout leaders, and Venturing leaders for completing 2 years of tenure and completing some basic unit tasks.  Scouts BSA application: Scouter’s Training Award for Boy Scouting Progress Record, Cub Scouts application: Scouter’s Training Award for Cub Scouting Progress Record, Sea Scout Application: Scouter’s Training Award for Sea Scouting Progress Record, Venturing Application: Scouter’s Training Award for Venturing Progress Record .

 

Scouters Key: These awards can be earned by Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Venturing Crew Advisors, district and assistant district commissioners, district committee members for three years of tenure and completing some basic unit tasks.  Award application can be found at Cubmaster: Cubmaster Progress Record, Scoutmasters: Scoutmaster Progress Record, Venture Crew Advisors: Advisor Progress Record, Seas Scout Skippers: Skipper Progress Record .

 

Unit Leader Award of Merit: These awards can be awarded to Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Venturing Crew Advisors,  and Sea Scout Skippers upon nomination from their unit’s committee chair for outstanding service as a unit leader. Award application can be found at Unit Leader Award of Merit .

 

Veteran Awards: This award can be earned by all adults who have completed at least 5 years of service as a registered member of the BSA (time as a youth may be counted as well).  This award can be awarded for every additional 5 years of service. Award application can be found at Veterans Award .

 

District Award of Merit: The District Award of Merit is the highest award the district can award to a volunteer for service within the district.  All registered adult volunteers within the Pomperaug District are eligible to be nominated for this award, but this award is limited to 1 person for every 25 units within the district.  To nominate a scouter for this award fill out the application found at District Award of Merit .
