Pomperaug District will be holding a Virtual Pinewood Derby Race on June 6th at 3PM. The race will be streamed over the internet via facebook and You Tube (Links to the stream will be available closer to the event date).
Since in person meetings are not currently an option we are opting for this virtual format instead. Packs will need arrange for a central pickup location for all cars in the unit that will be participating in the race. A district volunteer will do a no contact pickup from for the packs designated location and return it to the same location after the event along with patches and any trophies that may have been earned. More detailed information can be found in our Race guide.
Since this will be a streamed event, we will be adding commentary to our video feed. To help us with this we are asking for additional information about the racers in our registration process. Please fill out as much of this as you can to help us make the event more enjoyable for the viewers.
In addition to our race, we will be holding a design competition as well this year. This competition is open to any and all cub scouts within the Pomperaug district. To enter just upload a photo to the pomperaug facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/682847898580121/, with the hashtag #virtualpinewood derby or email a photo to seth.strohecker@gmail.com. Photos should be of the car only, no scouts in the photos please. After the race you will have the opportunity to vote on the best car design online.
