Playing chess is one of the many great sports that allows participants to solve challenges while exercising and developing the brain. The game of chess increases creativity, helps to develop problem-solving skills, and allows for a friendly sense of competition to develop. These various aspects make the game of chess a great fit for Scouts of all ages.
Please join us on Saturday, November 12 for a morning of Chess Play and a Tournament to determine Powahay’s top 3 Chess players.
$15 Early Fee if paid by Monday, October 24 — Includes facility fees, patch, awards, and pizza lunch. The regular fee is $20 after October 24.
Bring a Buddy — Scouts can invite one (non-Scout) friend to attend and participate for FREE.
Who can participate: AOL 5th grade Webelos and all Scouts BSA 6th to 12th grade.
Schedule:
8:30 AM Check-in
9:00 to 10:30 Chess Play (fun games)
10:30 to 12 Noon Chess Tournament
12 to 12:30 Pizza Lunch
Notes:
- Dress casual — uniform not required.
- Bring a buddy — non-scout to play.
- Chess sets are needed. Please consider bringing your own set to play with others.
- This event is open to all districts CYC.
