General
Youth Protection Every Year: The safety of the youth in our program is paramount, and we require that all adult leaders complete Youth Protection training on an annual basis. This online class can be taken at your own pace, and is required as part of your annual registration with Connecticut Yankee Council.
Position Training Before Registration: We believe strongly in providing the best adult leadership available, and require all adult volunteers to be trained in their Scouting position prior to registration with a unit, district or with the council. Almost all of this training can be done online, and within 1-2 hours, also at your own pace.
Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Outdoor Training within 6 Months of Registration: For Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, we only require completion of the online courses prior to registration, with the outdoor (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills) portion allowed to follow within six (6) months.

AVOID Duplicate My.Scouting Accounts
If you can’t remember your log-in and/or password for my.scouting, please call the Council registrar to assist. DO NOT create another account. Your previous training will no longer be linked to you.
Your Training Records
Each Scouter’s official Training Record is maintained electronically in my.scouting.org, and this documents all training completed by the Leader. Leaders should contact their own Unit Leader (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Skipper, or Crew Adviser) or Unit Committee Chair for any questions regarding Training Records. District Training Chairs can also assist in correcting records.
It is strongly recommended that Scouters retain copies of all certificates of training (or “trained” cards), whether earned online or in person; it is also recommended that each Scouter periodically (at least annually) review his/her training record.
Your Unit’s Training Records
Each Unit Committee Chair is asked to take on the responsibility of making sure that the Leaders in their unit meet their Training Requirements. If your unit has a Unit Trainer, this responsibility can be assigned to them. When a leader in your Unit changes their Scouting Role, please remind them to take any additional training that may be needed. Each year before re-charter, the Unit’s Trained Leader and Safeguarding Youth reports should be reviewed in my.scouting.org to check all training. If you have any questions on how to do these tasks, reach out to your Unit Commissioner or District Training chair for assistance.
