A STORIED PARTNERSHIP

Scouting has been a cornerstone of our communities for more than a century. Scouting has provided thousands of young men and women with life-changing experiences in our communities- from camping and the outdoors to leadership and service to exposure to careers and skill opportunities. This is all while instilling valuable character development and practical life skills.

FEATURING THE TALENTED MONTY GIBSON

Monty Gibson is an NFL strength coach, a philanthropist, a NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout AND the proud father of three Eagle Scouts.

Monty’s Scouting journey began as a Cub Scout, and he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1986. The Gibson Clan has a strong Scouting Legacy, with Monty’s mother, father, and grandfather actively involved in Scouting.

Monty’s experience in Scouting was integral in fostering the character traits and leadership skills that later paved the way for an illustrious career in coaching. In 2024, he will enter his seventh season as the Browns’ assistant strength and conditioning coach. He headed to Cleveland after spending 18 years as a Texas A&M strength and conditioning staff member. As a sports performance coach, he oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for the Aggie track and field men’s and women’s sprints and mid-distance runners, as well as the equestrian and men’s tennis teams.

Monty is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) and also is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and USA Weightlifting. He earned the title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach with the CSCCa in May of 2016.

The San Angelo, Texas, native is also a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and previously served six years as chairman of the Sports Science Committee for the USTA Texas Section. A graduate of Angelo State University with a bachelor of science degree in biology and life-earth sciences in 1993, Gibson earned a master’s degree in exei·cise physiology from Texas A&M in 2003.

In 2022, Monty established the Joe A. Gibson Philmont Scholarship Fund to honor Philmont, Scouting, and his Scouting mentor, his father. It’s a testament to his deep connection with Scouting and his commitment to giving back. Prepare to be inspired, reaffirm your belief in Scouting, and embrace the power of Monty’s story.

UNITED FOR THE FUTURE

We’re gathering at The Inn at Longshore to celebrate this longstanding tradition and rally for the future: Scouting has the opportunity to serve more youth in our communities. Our volunteers and professionals are working to grow Scouting in every neighborhood- from rural Bethany to urban New Haven to coastal Fairfield and every community in between. We believe no child who wants the opportunity to become a Scout should be denied.

GUIDED BY LEADERS: OUR TABLE HOSTING MODEL

Table Hosting is a way to bring friends and new supporters to Scouting. Table Hosts are not purchasing tables – unless they would like to. Table Hosts are responsible for inviting prospective donors to fundraisers who know in advance – from the Table Host – that they will be asked to make a donation at the 2023 Leadership Dinner.
